The Cyber Guardian (TCG) is a secure environment developed to protect our kids against predators, pornography, cyber-bullying and violence.   Other software tries to filter sites and blacklist them dynamically.  This provides less than reliable results because Internet nasties pop-up quicker than traditional filters can find them, which leaves huge gaps in their effectiveness as protection for children.

We don’t use blacklists and ineffective filters.  Instead we use a cutting edge computer lock-down process, that defaults to the TCG system, containing millions of screened whitelisted web pages.   We include all the good stuff, keep the bad stuff out and give parents great tools to provide a safe and stress-free internet environment for their kids.

Whitelist – safer than filters and blacklists

Trying to filter the web is like trying to boil the ocean. Whilst offering some form of protection, filters are simply ineffective and kids can get around them. Other software tries to filter sites and blacklist them dynamically, but provide less than reliable results because Interent nasties pop-up quicker than traditional filters can find them, which leaves huge gaps in their effectiveness as protection for children. TCG takes the opposite approach. Instead of trying to filter the millions of web pages that are uploaded to the web everyday, the exclusive TCG search engine only allow access to screened sites or what we call 'whitelists'. These whitelists have all been checked for content and sites that meet our stringent criteria are excluded. Children can then use these millions of pages of safe sites to access a huge range of educational and fun sites, protecting them from porn, predators and cyber bullies. And if you want to add more websites you can add to your kid's whitelist at any time (see Parent's Dashboard). Most filter-based systems on the market are fighting an uphill battle trying to keep up with the thousands of new “bad” sites that are added to the internet every day. We only include the “good” sites from the beginning making it much safer for your family to surf the TCG search engine.

 

 

 

 

 

Unique Lockdown – peace of mind for parents

 

Automatically defaults to TCG and only allows kids to surf in the secure environment. Prevents kids from changing the computer settings and downloading potentially malicious files or programmes.

When you download TCG it will automatically configure your computer, lock down your children's Windows account, and ensure that changes cannot be made to the PC without your consent. This is the safest way to stop your kids being able to circumvent the parental controls and means that they cannot surf outside of the secure environment, alter settings or download any potentially malicious files onto the computer. Let’s face it; kids are computer savvy and will try to find a way around anything. (Just type 'how to break parental controls' into any search engine and you can see this for yourself.) Unlike other systems that can be easily bypassed, The Cyber Guardian's unique lockdown technology means that when your child turns on the computer it automatically defaults to TCG's log-in page. A password protected parental control allows easy override of the lockdown should the parent wish to use other applications on the computer. Parents’ Dashboard – giving the control back to parents

 

Simple to use control panel allowing parents to make changes at the click of the mouse from any computer, anywhere.

Simple to use and accessible remotely, the dashboard allows parents to monitor the content and the time each child spends on the computer. Whilst TCG already provides millions of suitable webpages, TCG understands that content which may be suitable for one child isn’t necessarily suitable for another. TCG allows parents to add or remove sites from each child’s personal site bank. Designed with time-poor parents in mind, it’s simple, easy to use and best of all, can be accessed from any computer at home or work.

The parental dashboard provides a host of features to manage your children’s accounts. You have the ability to add websites to your child’s personal sitebank or delete sites. You can manage the amount of time your children spend on the computer. You can review the sites that your children have visited and those they have attempted to visit. Control Surfing Time – time management for kids

 

Tools that allows parents to set time limits for computer use. Set and change times as often as you like depending on each child. Even set time limits for particular websites. No more logging on to the computer after lights out!

It's one of the hottest topics at the moment. How much time do you allow your kids to be online? As parents we try to keep a balance between what we are asked by our children and what we know to be best for them. With this simple control you can set how much time your children are allowed to surf the internet. You might allow an hour each weekday then allow for a longer period on the weekend, the option is yours. It’s simple, can be set differently for each child and be changed easily at any time from any computer at home or work. Once set you don't have to worry that a laptop in the bedroom might be used late at night without your knowledge. And you can restrict the time that your kids spend on individual sites. Chore/Task Function – rewards for kids

 

Allows parents to allocate chores/tasks for each child to complete, with extra time on the computer as a reward.

Getting chores done around the house has never been easier. Simply set up a chore roster using the tools in the parental dashboard. The roster will show up in your child’s account with the amount of extra time they will be allowed on the computer for completing each chore. You can specify when the chore needs to be done and you can also control when the reward time can be used. It’s a win-win situation.
